நேஷனல் ஜியாகிரபிக்கில் ஒரு புதிய அம்சமுண்டு. புகைப்படக் கலைஞர் படமெடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் போது அவரைப் படமெடுத்துப் போடுவது என்று. அவர் படத்தில் ஒரு கதை உருவாக்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் 'அவர்' படத்திலும் ஒரு கதையுண்டு என்று இந்தப்படங்கள் சொல்லும். இதோ அப்படி நான்கு படங்கள் கீழே:

பூ விழும் மலர் வனம்

இரண்டு வாரமாக காய்ச்சல், தடுமன். காய்ச்சல் வரும், போகும், செர்ரி மலர்கள் வருடத்தில் ஒரே பருவத்தில் மட்டுமே பூக்கும். அது வசந்தம். இதுவரை நான் ஜப்பானிய சக்குரா (செர்ரி) மலர்க் காட்சியே உலகின் ஆகப்பெரிய அழகு என்று எண்ணியிருந்தேன். நெற்று 100 கி.மீ பயணப்பட்டு போன இடத்தில் குறைந்தது 30 கி.மீ நீளத்திற்கு சாலையின் இரு மருங்கிலும் செர்ரி மலர்களைப் பார்த்தது வாழ்வில் மறக்கமுடியாத அனுபவம். உங்களுக்காக அப்பயணத்தின் இ-சுவடை (இலத்திரன் சுவடு) 'சக்குரா' எனும் வலைப்படக் கொத்தாக்கியுள்ளேன். பார்த்து அனுபவியுங்கள். தமிழ் குறிப்பு தஸ்கி தமிழில் அமைந்துள்ளது.

கடல் வாழ்க! 01

வான் சிறப்புப்பாடும் வள்ளுவன் "நீரின்றி அமையாது உலகு" என்பான். காலையில் எழுந்தவுடன் இந்த நீலநிறக் கடலைக் காணாவிடில் கண்கள் பூத்துப்போகின்றன. எனது முதல் அனுபவம் திருச்செந்தூர். அது ரொம்ப ஆக்ரோஷமான கடல். கிட்டக்க நெருங்கவிடாத கடல். பயமுறுத்தும் கடல். ஆனால், ஜெர்மனியிலுள்ள பால்டிக் கடல் ரொம்ப சாது. அலையே அடிக்காது (அலையில்லாமல் என்னய்யா கடல்? என்று கேட்காதீர்கள் :-) இரண்டாம் பனிக்காலம் முடிந்து கடல் உள்வாங்கும் போது தோன்றியதுதான் பால்டிக். ஆகப்பெரிய ஆழமே 300 மீட்டர்தான். அதிலும் நிறைய வளைகுடாக்கள் உண்டு. கீல் பே (வளைகுடா) 13 கிமி நீளமுடையது. ஒரே ஒரு மாசம்தான் அது தன் சூரத்தனத்தைக்காட்டும். அது நவம்பரில். அப்போது புயல் அடிக்கும். அவ்வளவுதான். அதுக்கப்புறம், அது ஏரி மாதிரி சாதுவா இருக்கும். அங்குதான் என் வாழ்வின் எத்தனை பொழுதுகள்! இப்போது இந்தக் கொரியத் தென்கடல். இதுவும் வளைகுடா. ரொம்ப சாது. ஏதோ காலையில் பார்க்கும் போது ஜிலு, ஜிலு என்று ஆறுபோன்ற பிரம்பிப்பைத் தருகிறது! கடலை எவ்வளவு வேண்டுமானாலும் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கலாம். அது தரும் நிம்மதியே தனி.

கடல் வாழ்க! 02

நதி பவித்திரமானது. ஒரே நதியில் இருமுறை கால் வைக்க முடியாது என்பார்கள். அவ்வளவு பவித்ரமான நதியில் கூட கோடையில் தேங்கிய குட்டை துர்நாற்றமடிக்கும். ஆனால் உலகின் ஆகப்பெரிய நீர்க்கிட்டங்கியான கடல் எப்போதும் பவித்ரமாக இருக்கிறது. உலகின் அழுக்கெல்லாம் அங்கு வந்து சங்கமித்தும் அது புனிதமாயுள்ளது! தன்னை எப்போதும் சுத்தம் செய்து வைத்துக்கொள்ளும் அழகிய வீட்டுக்காரி போல் அது எப்போதும் சுத்தமாய், பார்க்க லட்சணமாய், கல்யாணத்தன்று பார்த்த மனைவி போல் எப்போதும் புதிதாய் உள்ளது.

இக்கடலைப் பார்க்கும் போது, என் வாழ்வின் தொடக்கம் இங்குதான் என்பதை நம்பமுடியவில்லை. Desmond Morris எழுதிய Naked Ape எனும் புத்தகத்தில் நமது மூத்த சகோதரர்களான மனிதக்குரங்குகள் மயிரும் மட்டையுமாய் இருக்கும் போது நாம் வழிச்சுவிட்ட மாதிரி மயிரற்று நிர்வாணமாய் நிற்கிறோம் (சில இடங்களில் எதற்குத்தான் மிஞ்சிவிட்டனவோ?). இந்த நிர்வாணம் நமக்குக் கடல் தந்தது என்கிறார். எப்படியாயினும் நாம் கடலிலிருந்து வந்தவர்கள்தானே! அதுதான் கருப்பை நீர்க்குடத்தில் இன்றுவரை மிதக்கிறோம். நீருடன் நமக்குள்ள பந்தம் தேவ பந்தம் என்கிறார் வைரமுத்து! உண்மைதான். நீரின்றி அமையாது உலகு. கடல் காணாக்கண்ணனும் அயர்வுருவான்! கடலே நீ வாழ்க!

The idea was a bit strange! To have dive in the cold waters of peak winter. That's why they called it Penguin Swimming festival. To our surprise there were 'cold resistant' men and women ready to get into the waters on January 15, 2005!

It was not easy. You may catch a cold if you dive into cold winter waters of South Sea. Fortunately, the water temperature read 13 degree celcius. Not freezing anyway! (Probably similar to a dip into Ganges in Haridwar in the early morning, irrespective of season)
